The Ypsilanti DDA adopted the Blueprint for
Downtown as the five-year strategic plan for the downtown. To view
the Blueprints plan, click here. To see the
latest update, presented at the Oct. 21st Town Hall meeting, click
here. Implementing the plan
will take lots of coordination and cooperation, including the help of
numerous volunteers. To help implement the plan, the YDDA is
reorganizing around the Main Street Four Point approach.
What is the Main Street Four-Point Approach?
The Main Street 4-Point Approach is a community-driven, comprehensive strategy encouraging economic development through historic preservation in ways appropriate to today’s marketplace. Each of the four points is equally important to a successful downtown. To get an overview, view a PowerPoint presentation on the program here. Think of the four-point approach this way:
- Organization: Getting everyone working toward the same vision for downtown
- Promotion: Getting more people to visit your downtown
- Design: Getting downtown into top physical shape
- Economic Restructuring: Getting your downtown businesses healthier
